I’ve tried my fair share of at-home masks for years from clay, avocado to oatmeal. Recently I discovered the wonderful benefits of honey — manuka honey to be exact.
While in Walmart shopping for my lady bug I picked up the 7th Heaven Manuka Honey Peel-Off mask. I’ve used this brand of mask before so I figured why not honey it up.
Manuka honey comes from the manuka bushes of New Zealand and has a number of great benefits.
Not only can manuka honey be used for beauty treatments like facial masks, but it can be used to treat acne, eczema and rosacea. The honey can be used on cuts and burns, or simply mix a tablespoon of it in warm water or tea for a sore throat or a cold. It can also be used to treat digestive issues such as acid reflux.
First off, this peel-off mask smelled wonderful. It made me want to lick my fingers, but relax I resisted the temptation. It was a bit gloppy as honey usually is, but for manuka honey I thought it would’ve been a little thicker.
I washed my face and then applied the mask onto dry skin. It was a bit sticky, but it is honey, right? I left the mask on for about 45 minutes while I wrote a blog post. This mask is for any skin type and features honey, aloe vera, jasmine and chamomile flowers.
Afterward the mask did shrink my pores and made my skin feel deliciously supple.
* Note: A premium brand of manuka honey is one that has an active bio of 10+ or higher. The number relates to the strength of its antibacterial effects. It’s purer than any regular honey.
